James Waring

James Waring is a healthcare executive and biomedical engineer with over a decade of experience bringing medical technologies from concept to market. He currently serves as Director of Strategic Partnerships at Resmed, where he leads collaborations with startups, healthcare providers, and digital health platforms to accelerate innovation and expand access to sleep care solutions globally.

James has built his career at the intersection of product development, commercialization, and digital health. Prior to his current role, he held multiple leadership positions at Resmed spanning product management, portfolio strategy, and direct-to-consumer growth, where he managed global portfolios exceeding $500M and led initiatives to expand patient access through connected care and digital channels. His work has consistently focused on translating emerging technologies into scalable, patient-centered solutions.

Previously, James was the Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Somnea Health, a virtual sleep care platform that integrated remote monitoring, coaching, and clinical care delivery. Under his leadership, Somnea developed a comprehensive model for managing sleep disorders outside of traditional clinical settings. He has also served as an Entrepreneur-in-Residence with Takeda Digital Ventures and advised early-stage companies on go-to-market strategy, product development, and commercialization.

Earlier in his career, James spent six years at Stryker, where he led the development of surgical technologies and managed early-stage innovation pipelines, bringing multiple products from concept through global launch. Across roles, he has worked extensively with cross-functional teams to align clinical insights, engineering, and commercial strategy to drive adoption and impact.

James holds a Master of Science in Engineering from Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology. He is passionate about advancing innovation in sleep health and chronic disease management, with a focus on improving patient outcomes through scalable, technology-enabled care models.
